Problem in Form List Box

Hi all,

I have one listbox( in form ) with multiple selection option. upon clicking submit button this form will send details to servlet program. The problem here for me is ,
whichever is selected in listbox, that only am getting in servlet side.

Is it possible to get all the values from list box even without single selection.

Sample Code:

Cookies access between sub domains

I have a cookie in domain a.xyz.com , and want to share this cookie with a server side object in domain xyz.com. I understand that if I write the cookie to .xyz.com then it should be avilable in xyz.com and a.xyz.com. Are these two separate cookies ? How do I ensure that both my server side objects (one in a.xyz.com and xyz.com) access the same cookie.

I'm working on an ajax call which returns results that contains some sensitive user data. The application uses an ssl certificate during normal day to day operations.

I was curious if the browser will still use the certificate and encrypt the data if I were to make an ajax call via the https protocol? Do any of you know of a good way to test the flow and server response?

Hi,
I'm new to jsp world so I want some help...is very important to me so I will explain it in details

I have a jsp which display a form to be filled out. I have some text fields where the user fills them and submit the form. The form next is passed to a jsp page where I'm using some beans, setProperties to save the data to database.

Now my problem is:
I want to add in my form a part where the user can add a book. A book may have author,title,edition,publisher. If it was to provide to fill only one book this it could be easy done by having the appropriate text fields and then in process jsp to get the approprite parameters and save the data into database.

Hello,

I've been googling for a while but still can't find solution to my problem.
I would like to have a jsp page with a form consisting of several inputs and selects. When page loads for the first time, there is only one select (with values taken from database), but after clicking on link "add", the subsequent selects are added (using JavaScript and DOM). It seems to be pretty easy task, but I'm not sure how to populate the newly created select with data.

I have a form on a JSP that sometimes takes a few seconds to save data to the database. If the user clicks the button a second time bad things can happen. How can I disable the button after it is first clicked until the form action is complete?

Getting elements from a list box

I have a form which the user enter some data into text fields and submit the form. After submitting I have a jsp page where I have use some beans and I save the objects into database.

Now I have insert the following mechanism(in Javascript):
I have 2 list box.The first one contains all the subjects.If the user select one subject and click on the button add the subject is remove and added to the other list box(let called it Prerequisite).
Now how can I get that values from the "Prerequisite" list box and save them. With request.getParameter surely you can't

I hope you understand me what I'm trying to do...

I'm reading the Head First HTML&CSS book. It's said that table was used a lot before CSS came out. Now we have CSS, so we should not use table to do this job any more. But look at the JavaRanch home page, it uses table and it works pretty well.

1. Do you use table for layout now?
2. If I replace table with CSS, what might it look like?

Yes, plugin Form makes very easy to deal with Ajax! I forgot to tell that if you install Firebug in Ubuntu via Synaptics (the package manager) it works well with FF3b
Anyway, with this problem I've also discovered Tamper Data which I found very useful to work with Ajax too.

(New to this stuff) I have three possibilities of selection using checkboxes, Select All Active, Select All Inactive, and individual checkbox selection. I have basic 'Select All' checkbox logic working, but without the additional criteria of 'Active' or 'Inactive'. Can someone help me to only select Active or !Active status_ind values for the checkboxes? Thanks in advance!

problem redering image in IE7

Hi,
I'm caught into a strange problem. Is there some issue with IE7?
My problem :

I have a file input element in my page. When I select an image, I want to display the selected image in a span. I have tested and found that my code works fine with IE6 but does not show up the image in IE7. It only shows default "image not found" icon.

I'm invoking js function on onchange event of file input.

Calling jsp from within another

One jsp is being called from within another jsp on click of button (not submit button)by calling javascript function as

A page has more than one button to call other jsp by calling appropriate javascript function.
This code works smoothly, but after some time it starts giveing error as "document.frm.submit is not a function"

What could be the reson? & how to resolve it?

Date Object i.e vs firefox

I am trying to validate a date that a user enters against the current date. I have it working in firefox but I get that the date I created is invalid in ie.

Can some one tell me what I am doing wrong? (besides using ie)

The code itself is rather long but I have extracted the sections in question.

Ajax.Updater not displaying

Hi,

I don't have a lot of experience with Ajax. Updater and I'm having trouble getting it to work.
I have a web application with select boxes for building, floor and room. When I select a building I want the appropriate floors to display in the floor select box. Similarly for rooms.
I have used Firebug to debug this and the Response statement is correct.
The problem is it is not displayed on the screen (the web page doesn't change).

Hi ranchers,

I was just giving some finishing touches to my web apps , while doing this I replace default favicon.ico of Tomcat from webapps/ROOT dir with new icon. Now when I restarted Tomcat and my PC, i am not getting the that favicon on IE, but at the same time other browser like Mozilla and Opera showing it ..

Whats the problem with IE, Is it a bug ?

What are the security implications of adding res:// to trusted sites?

Internet explorer ignores trusted zone settings when site has a custom control loaded by res:// and uses only internet zone settings to load this control. Due to high security settings in internet zone, control gets blocked. I found that when we add res:// to trusted sites along with actual site , it solves this problem.

Movie is not running in firefox

2) when I converted into *.dat then

3) it runs only in MS Explorer with <img dynsr=movie.dat> but still not in firefox

Popup focus

Ok, I have a button in the main site and when it is clicked a pop up window opens and the user can navigate and do whatever. Then they can go back to the main site and click another button which is supposed to then give focus to the pop up window again (just a different part).

Here's the thing: It works just fine in Safari. Whenever a button is clicked the focus goes back to the popup window, yet every other browser seems to keep the popup window behind.

Any idea of how to FORCE the popup window to have focus?

Is there any way to hide the options in a drop down.

As an example, I have a code as

The project that I am currently working on includes a requirement to validate an input field on the fly, as the user is typing. The idea is as follows:

- When the user begins typing in the field, the background color should change from the default white to yellow.
- When the user has typed a valid sequence of characters, the field should change back to white.
- If the user continues to enter further input, and that invalidates the string, the field should change back to yellow.
