HellO!

I have some questions about the questions :=) that they are asking in the SCEA 5 Part 1 Exam.

How deeply are they asking EJB and JPA, I think they are asking rather when to use what type of bean and when to use a DOA over the JPA and such things.
Am I right?
Or do they asking very though questions about the mentioned API's?
What are they asking about the Webservices?
I think there could not be many tough questions about them, because it is rather simple to recognize their usage ?
Yes and how deeply are they asking the security API's.
I think I have also learned too much of them.

Because the exam type is multiple choice, I'm wondering if the question indicates the number of the correct answers so that I can choose the right number?

Aren't the voucher's available for SCEA II at Prometric center like SCEA I?

Computer Based Training for Java EE

Hi,
I wonder if anyone knows a good CBT training course/dvd for Java EE or specific parts of it. I remember that VTC had one, with Arthur Griffith acting in it! It was not that deep, and just good to know what was what. There was another series from learnkey, that came out in 2000 (not sure), with the German accent of the presenter. I think it is outdated now.
Any new dvds that you can recommend?

I didn't ordered my project year...Just would like to hear from you according to your experience....how long it's supposed to take approximately...I mean..the average which I'll need to prepare myself to delivery this project by working ..let's say..2/3hours daily ...

Fees diff for part I of 310-052 EXAM

Has anybody noticed differance in fees at prometric web site and sun website?

At sun fee is quoted as 200$ while at the Prometric webiste its 300$ for the same 310-052 exam.

SCEA Part 2 Sequence Diagram

Hi,

Do we need to represent the alternative flow also in a single sequence diagram. For example pay for itinerary use case has normal flow and an alternate flow paying using miles. Do we need to represent both of them in the same sequence diagram or can have seperate sequence diagram for both the flows.

Hi All, I am planning to write SCEA. I have about 10+ years of experience working on both C++ and Java using enterprise systems such as CORBA and J2EE.

I have a few questions on how I should approach SCEA.

Question 1) I dont have any lower certificates. I am writing SCEA directly. This does not mean that I am an expert on all the technologies, but I plan to make up for it when studying for SCEA. Is this a doable approach?

Question 2) How much effort may be required? Can anybody suggest any time line? Though this would be specific to individuals, assuming my experience and about 10 hours of study per week, any rough idea? I am currently thinking about a month for Step 1 and another for 2 and 3.

New Training Material for SCEA EE5 part 1

Hello,

I've been interested in starting to prepare for the SCEA EE5 exams for a while now, but I keep thinking I should wait until the new training material is completed.

I'm specifically interested in the second edition of Sun Certified Enterprise Architect for Java EE Study Guide by Mcgraw-Hill. I guess the first edition was really rushed and had many errors. Any ideas on if there will be a second edition? If so, when I might it be out?

Also, I'm hoping Sun will come out with an online training course; more than just a training course on creating an EE5 application, which they already have. Anyone know if if Sun is going to create en SCEA EE5 web prep course for part one of the exam?

I've recently completed the old part 1 of the SCEA and after further research I was able to purchase a voucher for part 2 via a phone call. I paid $450 using my credit card for part 2. I have two issues one issue being that I have no idea of where to download the project for part 2. The links in the study guide are not working. The second issue is that I believe I may have paid too much money for the exam. The study guide says that I should have paid a total of $450 for all three parts of the exam but I paid that amount for just the second and third part of the exam. And I only received one voucher#. Can anyone offer assistance with these issues?

It seems that name of the jar file should have testid. DO they mean it is prometric id? I guess we have prometric Id from part 1 that we need to use.

I think it's very useful for us to prepare SCEA and help us find the gaps we are missing during preparation.

If we don't allow to talk about the real questions in SCEA here, it should be OK to FAKE ones...

Comparison of Application Server's Specifications

Hi,
Part of being an architect is knowing about non functional specifications of the components, technologies and tools being used. Unfortunately I am myself very ignorant in this regards.
Have you seen reports on comparison of performance of different application servers? Also the delay for example, incurred as a result of using a security service. In other words, quantitative discussions of non functional specifications of technologies and tools used.
Also I am interested in comparison of Microsoft products with JEE-compatible products. Have you seen such a document? When is it still fine to use IIS and SQL Server, and when you should emigrate to a JEE application server?

Regarding System performance / scalability, availability, security, does anyone knows of any books / reference I can use to address the above?

Can these actually be fully addressed in deployment diagram?
e.g having enough memory / servers.

If we do say that a company has several web designers with HTML and some scripting experience, but no real programming experience and You're a consultant architecting the back-end solution why would you say that they would need to use JSF?

I have as CORRECT answers the following options :

- JSP

- JSF

- Expression Language

I'd say that it's better having they working with "JSP + Custom Tag Libraries" than JSF since they have no real programming experience.

With regards to "Custom JSF Componens " - would not recommend that because this also requires to be experienced.

so..why JSF....?? Would not JSP be enough ? since this scenario does not mention anyth...

- What is the meaning of "Passwords must be stored using a one-way encryption algorithm" here? - Would it be symmetric algorithm like RC1, RC2, DES, Blowfish?

- if not why on the response it declares for options A, C : wrong because there are symmetric algorithms and option D : wrong because it's asymmetric algorithm ?

- What is the correlation here and what is the meaning of SHA?

Hello folks, i have a question regarding this scenario :

- All data is stored in a relational database system
- multiple applications access this data using a single persistence layer.
- The model includes complex relationships between tables.
- Design requirements will include supporting complex queries, bulk updates/deletes, and disconnected operations

1) JPA
2) CMP
3) BMP
4) JDBC

Question : The answer is JPA because simply CMP and JDBC don't accept neither "bulk and disconnected operations"?

And what about to regard the term "complex queries"? Isn't JPA only used for simple queries?

I passed SCEA 5 Part I with 67%. I did not give any mock tests as I could not find any simulator.
I used the following books
1) JavaEE Tutorial from the web site of Sun
2) Mastering EJB by Ed Roman
3) Head First Design Patterns
4) Core JavaServer Faces (2nd Edition) - by David Geary, Cay S. Horstmann
5) Sun Certified Enterprise Architect by Mark Cade
6) Core J2EE design pattern
7) Core J2EE Design Pattern

I felt the exam difficult and the choices were very close. You have to read between the lines in this exam.

SCEA 5 Beta part 1 passed before... still valid?

Hi, I have passed part i of SCEA 5 BETA exam before. But I wasn't able to get the assignment for the part 2 in time to finish it and submit it in time. Can I directly go and take part 2 of the exam and use the result of the part 1 beta exam as my part 1 score? Or do I have to retake even part 1 of the exam?

Glad to share that I have passed SCEA 2. Just got the results, have scored 77. Submitted Part 2 and took Part 3 on 30 March 08. It just 1 month to get the results.

Used the following books:

- Sun Certified Enterprise Architect for J2EE Technology Study Guide
- Martin Fowler's UML book and glanced many J2EE books over the last few months.

I have 6+ years of Java experience. Although I'm not an architect since 2006 I'm into designing application and involved in architecture discussions.

Looking forward to learn more and be an architect.
