XML to XSL conversion. Need to keep track of rows based on an if condition

I am using XSL to convert an XML file to a csv file.
The XML file in the format below:

<name>Johnny</name>
<age>32</age>

My xsl file should be implemented such that all records where age <20 are ignored.

Is there some type of function within xslt that can draw a line across a webpage?

I am a newbie. This is the only thing I can think of. I have searched the internet and have not come up with anything useful.

Hi
I am unable to parse XML data sent to an AJAX call from a servlet.
The data passes into the AJAX call but I get NULL when i try to
parse it .

Problem in xpath reading

hi to all,
Iam using javax.xml.xpath.XPath to parse and read the xml file. It is working fine in java 1.5 version. but i want the same requirement in java 1.4. When iam using same code in java 1.4 it is throwing exceptions. Iam giving the code....

First of all iam creating XPathReader class for xpath parsing and reading.

XProc reaches W3C Working Draft status

The W3C has released a working draft (http://www.w3.org/TR/xproc/) of the proposed XML Pipeline Langauge or XProc. This is a technology to keep an eye on if you have to work with really large XML streams or are looking for a new approach to XML processing.

Sun's Glassfish open source project has this VERY early implementation. (https://xproc.dev.java.net/)

Hi,

Can anyone recommend a tool that helps with writing XSDs? I'm looking for a WYSIWYG tool that can generate the XSD file from a graphical description of it's structure. I've used XML spy for this in the past, but am hoping there's a similar non-commercial tool available? An Eclipse plugin would be especially welcome.

I have a test client on my computer and that test client is sending an XML file to a local server. When that local server receives that XML file, there is an error message that says that there is a duplicate TRN ID. I looked at the XML file and there is nothing in the file that talks about a TRN ID. What could be the problem?

XStream is used to generate XML in our application, but I don't think this problem is specific to XStream. I'm wondering if there's something I can do in Java to make sure that this problem doesn't happen.

We are sending an XML file to another internal application, and I'm having trouble with an apostrophe in one of the XML nodes. It's a simple object and there is no special converter registered for it, and its comments field is just a String. In two UNIX testing environments, we are seeing different behavior, and I don't even know where to begin to look for the cause. At first, I assumed their parser was mishandling something, but upon investigation, we found out that this is what they're seeing in the XML file they receive ...

Hi,

I am new to XML and have a basic question.
I have one xml file where the xmlns:com="http://xyz.com/com/core/common"
and I want to change is to xmlns:com="http://abc.com/com/core/common".

Can I just go ahead and change the xml namespace in that xml or i will have to change anyother files which will be affecting due to this change.

Iam tring to get the values of an XML using the following code.

I am being passed a text version of an URL address. This address prints on the worksheet. I need to change the code to activate the address on the worksheet when selected.

I have been trying to figure out where is the best location to make the change. Do I convert the address to an URL address in the java code and then display it or do I continue to pass the text version of the address to the xslt code and make the conversion there?

I have to send email to customers after they have finished their shopping.
It consists of list of items, total, address etc.
I have created a xsl for that and then want to add xml data to that xsl to generate the html email.
What is the best way to achieve this ?
Or is there a different approach to generate html email ?

I'm a beginner with XML and need some basic help.

This is the general external reference to a DTD.

And this is a specific example.

<!DOCTYPE note SYSTEM "Note.dtd">

Where should the Note.dtd file be placed, so that the xml document is validated against this dtd?

imagine that we have several software system which need to interact with eachother in order to complete a task.

All modules use xml for interaction and mostly are developed using jsx-ws.
In such application we will have several xml schemas which define structure of many xml, soap,.. messages.

what I can not understand is the way that we store this schemas,
- should we copy each schema into classpath of every application?

What are best practice for such requirement?

Hi,
I have to implement a method (web service) which returns an xml schema.
In other words the response object of web service will be of type "xml schema".
The records are stored in an Oracle database.

What should be the best way to implement this-

# Option 1. To retrieve the records from oracle simply by calling stored procedures-and then storing in some object- and then converting that object to xml schema. (Not sure exactly how this will work)
# Option 2. Query databse so that it returns xml schema
#Any other option- you can suggest

Castor | Default Element Value

Hi,

Does anyone know if it is possible to set a default value for an element or attribute when we use Castor to marshal an object to XML? The objects that are marshalled to XMLs are fetched from a database. Some of the fields of these objects maybe NULL and hence their coresponding XML field/attribute is not printed in the XML. Is there a way to give a default value to such fields so that even if the database value is NULL it will display the default value in the XML (other than using a null check for all such fields in Java code)?

How to translate a DOM level 1 special method "org.w3c.dom.Element.getElementsByTagNameNS()" in DOM level 2?

I have some code finished by j2sdk1.3.(As we known, j2sdk1.3 only support DOM level 1.) In these code, there is task finished by the method of "org.w3c.dom.Element.getElementsByTagNameNS()".

Now we have updated our applications from j2sdk1.3 to j2sdk1.4. And now my JAXP support DOM level 2. So the method of "org.w3c.dom.Element.getElementsByTagNameNS()" can not get any NodeList.

I have to post a new thread here hoping you can do me a favor. I only want to know how can I substitue a DOM level 2 special method for it?

Hi to all,
iam applying a name space to a org.jdom.Element root element of my xml structure. It is comming fine as attribute to root element as xmlns:"http://www.loc.gov/MARC21/slim". But the same name space property is aaplying to direct childs of root element by xmlns=" " with empty string.
I tried to remove the name space for direct childs as per my requirement.
But it is not deleting. It is still existing with empty string for sub childs.

Is there any posibility to remove the xmlns for direct childs and existing this for root element.

If any buddy knows please help me.

Hi to all,

Iam building xml file.In that iam trying to create org.jdom.NameSpace in setAttribute() method of org.jdom.Element object. Iam getting runtime errors like illegal name.
What exactly i want is i want to set "xmlns" as attribute name and "http://www.loc.gov/MARC21/slim" as attribute value. When iam directly creating that it is throwing exception that no attribute name should be xmlns in org.jdom.Element. That is why i approched to org.jdom.NameSpace. But iam not getting the way, how to set org.jdom.NameSpace in setAttribute method of org.jdom.Element object. I tried several ways but it is not comming.
