I'm currently trying to use a application on a hosting server. Hosting provider (GoDaddy) does not allow any kind of writing to filesystem except to /tmp folder. Any other attempt will end in security exception. I'm currently trying to take Display Tag Library (displaytag) to use.

When I try to use the taglibrary on a jsp page I get java.security.AccessControlException
with a message

I want to develop a dynamic and continously updating charts using struts and ajax.I go through so many charts like jFree,cewolf,eastwood ,fusion etc.
But each has problems as
cewolf : This chart using jsp tlds .it is fine .But problem is that we are not able to continously update it using ajax .(If there is any way to so that then i do not know how to make it .Please do tell me !)

I want to generate log files based on package structure. Like com.temp.test in test.log ,also I am having a log file at application like app.log .

This is my requirement what has been logged in test.log should not be logged in app.log.This is my log4j.properties file.

Hi all ,

I am using log4j.properties. i have specified one File appender.
My requirment is that i need two seprate fileAppender.Like
if an error comes it should log in "error.log" , if not then it should log
"myLog.log".

Overall , i want seprate FileAppender for "error" and "myLog.log".Though i have created two logger objects.but they used the same FileAppender.

Does any body any idea?

In my current application I am logging just the exceptions:

In one of my previous projects, we used to log at "method entry point", "method exit point", output of any complex algorithm, and of course exceptions.

I am thinking of some mechanical way to logging - like I run a program and it writes logging statements in my all Java classes... Any idea on this?

Jasper Report Dynamic query

HI,
I modify the query to be like this
SELECT * FROM TABLE where $P{whereClauseAsParameter}

from ireport, but I didn't run the report in iREport

I invoked the report from web passing multiple parameters to servlet and I construct the where clause from servlet as "whereClauseAsParameter" and pass it to the report and I got error msg:
Caused by: java.sql.SQLException: ORA-00933: SQL command not properly ended

can someone please help me how to write dynamic query in jasper report...

Ok I am using the quartz api for job schedualing and I have
a JobDataMap that I put key/value pairs as (String, long)

when I do a

Hi ranchers,

am working on a billing project where i create a CDR record for each sussccful transaction the user do.

this CDR record is used to deduct from the user credit.

am using log4j to do this logging, but when i was trying a demo to ensure the success of using log4j, i faced this problem:

am using two diffrent machines to log in the same file at the same time tryin to simulate the billing process. and each machine should log 1000 record, so finally i should have in the logging file 2000 records, but i didn't find the 2000 records instead i found 1980 record.

this is a disaster to me ..am working on a very critical part of the project which is the billing part if anything is ...

Hi,

I am using log4j 1.2.14 in my application for logging activity. I have configured JDBC appender in log4j.xml for MSSQL server table logging. In case of handling the database down scenario I have configured FallBackErrorHandler to log in to a temporary flat file.

There is a scenario where in the JDBCAppender goes down and FallBackErrorHandler comes in to picture due to database down case, from that point the FallBackErrorHandler takes responsibility of logging.

My requirement is to invoke the JDBCAppender as soon as the Database is up and running, but that's not the case as of now, even when the database is up the logging activity is carried out by the FallBackErrorHandler.

I have dynamically generated table in my JSP. I am trying to sort the generated table based on the selected column. and I am using code from this website.

i have decided to use cewolf and JFreeChart.

I want to make graphs, but i cannot find nothing about passing parameters to produceDataset in order to dinamically create mysql querys. (i have looked through the api, this forum and half internet :confused: )

Hi I need to make a call to a url but dont want to wait for the response, the call triggers certain actions which take some time and I dont want the app to wait for the response from the server. I am using JCIFS for windows authentication in my application. The problem I am facing is, it is working perfectly fine with 'FireFox' but with IE, it is working with only a few. On the other, it is simply showing "Page Can not be displayed". Any one has any idea regarding this?

We are facing a problem while using Page break in Jasper Reports.

we are having a main report which calls the Subreport and the
subreport is having a table and 5 more sub reports.

we are passing a arraylist to the main report.The arraylist contains
the Vo's for the reord selected from the user.The VO contains values
for the fields in the sub report and other 5 sub repports in the sub
report. The main report will call the sub report for each vo in the
arraylist.

We need each record to be displayed in separate pages in the same PDF.
There are cases that the 5 subReports in the sub report won't be
displayed only the table in the sub report will be displayed.

Jasper Report. Problem in html print preview of graphical element

Hi Folks,

I am facing one unique problem with Jasper Reports.
I am trying to use horizontal/vertical lines to create logical sections in my report.
It renders the lines in Internet Explorer when I have an HTML preview but it does not render the lines when I select Print Preview.It is also not showing on printed copy.I am using image servlet also.
Unlike this when I select PDF Preview it not only renders lines properly but also renders them on printed copy as well.

Sorting in Extreme Components

We are using extreme components for displaying the search results. We need to display the search results where default sorting should be there based on the selected preference value.

The user can set the preference value for sorting for

Iam using apache commons FTPClient (In "commons-net-1.4.1.jar" ). Iam using it to read files and write a file onto a FTP server.

This class works fine in Windows environment, but its not working on linux ( red hat linux) environment. The following snippet code is for reading a file on FTP. This piece of code results to deadlock situation at bolded code.

How to write user defined pattern

Hi All,

I want to write some data in file, but I just want to ignore all other things, which just get in file because of log4j default implementation.
Is there any alternative by which I can use all other functionalities of log4j without appending other information.

I am not sure, but may be I need to over-write some user defined appender to get this done.

Any inputs.....

Quartz: How to avoid applet alerts???

Hi All,

I have a http servlet in which I am configuring the quartz scheduler. I am loading the servlet on start up.

The following are the few lines of code in my servlets init() method for configuring the scheduler. But at the below mentioned point I am getting an applet alert on the tomcat console and also its printing some policy properties. Could some one help me in resolving this? How can I avoid these applet alerts, I am not using any applets in my application.

Jsp/Html tag validation problem in RAD7.0

Hi All

I am developing an application using rad7.0.I am facing problem with html and jsp tag validation.And also its not recognising the link.

while building the application its showing errors on Html tag and also jsp action (in path attribute value).So,rebuild failed.so,i just chaged the setting in validation option to disable the validation on Html/Jsp tag validation.Now its builded the applciation.while running the application,its not showling the page with style sheet settings...Its looks like

Anyone tell me what i need to do to resolve this issuee.

Displaytag Properties File Problem with was6.1

Hi All
I am facing problem with displaytag properties files in was6.1.Previously i am using was5.0 with displaytag1.0 - in that what ever value configured in displaytag.properties file,the values are reflected while running the application.

But while using was6.1,i just migrated the displaytag1.0 to diaplytag1.1,and also i configured required version of jar files to support displaytag1.1 in was6.1.Its also working fine.

But the problem is,the value configured in the displayteg.properties file are not reflected while running the application.Its just getting the default values from the displaytag1.1.jar file and not from the locale created displaytag.properties file setted values in webcontent/web-inf folder.

But now it is logging a single file only. Also how can i get the server member name in the cluster using java.The application server used is WAS 6.1
