You've probably noticed that in addition to new forum software, we are on a new domain - www.coderanch.com.

Q. Why did you switch domains?

A. JavaRanch has already branched out to include some other languages such as Groovy and Scala. And we've always had some other languages such as JavaScript and SQL. The new domain better positions us for the future.

Q. Are you changing the site name?

A. We have no plans to change the site name/logo from JavaRanch to CodeRanch at this time. The first goal was to get through the migration in one piece. Maybe one day.

Q. What about all the other stuff on javaranch.com?

A. For now, everything is staying as is. At some point, we'll probably move everything over to our bright shiny new server.

Q. Is javaranch.com going away? What about my bookmarks?

A. We realize a lot of people have links/bookmarks to javaranch.com based URLs. We added redirects from the old saloon URLs to our new software ones on coderanch.

Q. When are you adding forums for new languages?

A. Give us time to catch our breath. Moving to new software was a lot of work and there's still behind the scenes work that needs to be done. While we want to add forums at some point, we need to get settled first.

Q. Will there still be Java experts here?

A. Absolutely! Most of us are Java developers in our day jobs. That doesn't change just because the site has a new URL.
