Use One Thread Per Question

There is an ever-growing amount of information on the web. Even at JavaRanch there are gigabytes of content. Adding multiple threads only diversifies the content and makes it harder for people to sort through information for the answers needed. If there are existing threads (because you remembered to SearchFirst) try to see if those can answer your question, and if not, perhaps continuing that thread makes sense.

If you do post a new thread, just post one thread and do so in the correct forum (see CarefullyChooseOneForum). This makes it easy to concentrate all the relevant information in one place so future users can more easily access it.

The other side of this rule is to not post a new question into an existing thread - that's called hijacking and isn't nice. If you have a new question, start a new thread.
